About Our Programs
K-2 Basketball
Our K-2 program is for children in grades Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Meetings are held once a week, on Saturday mornings, for 60 minutes and typically start up the week before Thanksgiving and run for 8 weeks. The typical format of the 60-min meeting is 30 minutes of skills and drills followed by 30 minutes of scrimmaging. We will have an evaluation in November (date TBD) where we invite all registered children to participate in fun stations and scrimmages so that we can observe their skill level in order to make as evenly balanced teams as possible.
Nashoba League Travel Basketball (Grades 3-6)
For children in grades 3-6, we participate in the Nashoba League Travel Basketball league. We play against towns in the area, such as Bolton, Clinton, and Stow. This is not a coed program and teams are as follows: Boys 3rd /4th Grade, Girls 3rd/4th Grade, Boys 5th/6th Grade, Girls 5th/6th Grade. It is a Nashoba League policy that teams must be composed of evenly balanced talent and that players must all have equal playing time during games. We will hold an evaluation in November (date TBD) where we invite all registered children to participate in stations and scrimmages so that we can observe them in an effort to make as evenly balanced teams as possible.
Central Massachusetts Youth Basketball League (CMYBL - Grades 5-8)
In addition to our Nashoba League, we also participate in CMYBL, which is a more competitive option for our more serious basketball players. This is a tryout-based team where cuts may be made during tryouts in order to keep team size small and to ensure skill-level is appropriate for this higher level of play. Even if you make a team, there is no guarantee of playing time during games, but you are still expected to attend practices. Those athletes who make a CMYBL team are still required to play on a Nashoba League rec team.
SEPAC Adaptive Basketball
The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) together with HAA Basketball offers an Adaptive Basketball Program. This experience is designed for children with special needs. Games to learn basketball skills will be modified based on each child's needs. Parents/Guardians must stay on site at the gym during the event. Each child will be paired with a volunteer and children will be grouped according to developmental age and size. For questions or more information, please contact HarvardSEPAC@gmail.com.
Co-Ed Pickup Basketball (Grades 7 - 9)
If registration numbers allow, we have offered a once weekly pickup league for children in grades 7, 8, and 9. This is a casual, scrimmage-only meetup that is run by a parent volunteer and has typically occurred on a Saturday or Sunday evening.
Co-Ed Adult League
This is a program open to men and women ages 18 and over in Harvard and the surrounding towns who are interested in playing pickup basketball. Meetings are typically held twice weekly and run for 90-minutes to 2 hours, depending on gym availability.
